Recent PF Acquisitions

Annually, Pheasants Forever acquires approximately 2,000 acres in Minnesota. These acres are donated to wildlife habitat and transferred to the MN Department of Natural Resources as Wildlife Management Areas or to the US Fish and Wildlife Service as Waterfowl Production Areas. Below we've listed a couple of our recent acquisitions.

Caraway WMA - Section 25, Delafield Township, Jackson County

Caviness Tract - 74 acres of the Caraway WMA 2006 This 74 acre parcel was an addition to the Caraway WMA. It includes 47 acres of native prairie with the remainder as cropland. Plans are to restore a small wetland, plant maintain a food plot and seed down the remaining cropland acres to native grasses for quality nesting cover. Funding for this project came from the Jackson County chapter of Pheasants Forever, the Pheasants Forever MN Habitat Fund and the Minnesota Environmental Trust Fund.

Buck Family Memorial WMA - Section 22, 27, Zumbrota Township, Gooodhue County

Aerial Photo of the Buck Family Memorial WMA in Goodhue County The 300 acre parcel is mostly tillable with some pasture and a small woods. An intermittent stream, Trout Brook, flows through the property. The cropland acres will be converted to a mix of native grasses and potentially a foodplot. The project adjoins the Tiedemann WMA (which was previously purchased by the Goodhue County chapter of Pheasants Forever). Funding for this project came from a generous gift from Tobias Buck, the Goodhue County chapter of Pheasants Forever, the MN DNR RIM Critical Habitat Program, the Pheasants Forever MN Habitat Fund and the Pheasants Forever Build A Wildlife Area Campaign.
